"The secret to a rich life is to have more beginnings than endings."

There is no other way to categorize what I'm feeling today other than a new beginning. Thanks to Teresa and Jen at In.cite Studio, Path of Intention is launching our first ever website--woo-hoo!
2011 is right around the corner and like many people, the changing over of the calendar inspires me to set the intention to make positive changes in my life. More yoga. Less processed food. More outdoor runs--even on the snowy paths of suburban Chicago. More reading. More writing. Less screen time. More connection to the present moment.
I know, the last one is a doozy. I have a friend who jokes about this by describing her version of presence,
"As I cross my kitchen floor to answer the phone, I am feeling the goldfish crackers smash beneath my feet as the crumbs embed themselves in my socks."
Kidding aside, it's hard to be present, and sometimes, why would we want to? I wish I had some wise, philosophical answer to this question other than when I am staying in the moment (as much as possible), I just plain feel better. I notice things. Important things. Like Sam, Charlie and Kate (my amazing kids) standing right in front of my eyes full of life and love, and being effortlessly in the moment themselves. How do they do that??
I have noticed that the distracting, not so happy thoughts that invade my brain seem to disappear on a run or during a yoga class paving the way for a better day. Path of Intention was born out of my own desire to connect with the present and see the blessings that surround me. I can't make all the chaos of my life disappear, but I can strengthen my ability to face and embrace what's real. Why not journal about it?
Wishing you peace, love, joy and many blessings in 2011!
With much gratitude,
Amy

ESCAPE INTO WHAT'S REAL
Path of Intention
There is no way I can begin this new chapter in my life without acknowledging with a big smile on my face and the upmost gratitude: Beth Martin (CPA), Teresa Smith & Jen Nebel (www.in.citestudio.com), Reveca Torres (artist), Laura Stavoe (writer), Lloyd and Mary McCarthy (photographers), Erin Lusk (assistant), everyone at House of Doolittle. The awe-inspiring student members of the Wesgate Running Club and Chicago Run (www.chicagorun.org). Young Artist, Johnny Reisel (and his mom) for showing me how to pay attention to what's going on in my field of vision. Plus Runner's High 'n Tri, Running Unlimited and Dick Pond for being the first stores to carry Path of Intention's Running Journal. Thank you!
